MAHABUBNAGAR: The State government has decided to extend crop loans to the tune of Rs.26,000 crore under Pavala Vaddi, informed Minister for Rural Development G. Chinna Reddy. He inaugurated Mahabubnagar Revenue Divisional level farmers convention at Kammadanam village near Shadnagar on Thursday. He also inaugurated photo exhibition arranged by various departments including agriculture, horticulture, sericulture, marketing, forest and others. Addressing on the occasion the Minister said that with the support provided by government the farmers in the State have created history by producing 200 lakhs metric tunes of food grains during 2007. He said that drought-prone Mahabubnagar district has also produced 12.50 lakh metric tunes of food grains during last year. To educate the farmers about the latest technology in agriculture government has organised farmers conventions in all revenue divisions. The Minister informed that the required fertilizer and seeds were stocked at mandal headquarters further he said that some of the fertilizer producers were indulged in creating artificial shortage and warned them with dire consequences. He urged the farmers to utilize the facilities provided by the government properly and strive for high yieldings. xplaining about the subsidies being provided by the government, the Minister asked the farmers to cultivate vegetables and fruits as well as horticulture and floriculture. He also informed that the farmers in the district are going to benefit some Rs.600 crore with the waiver of loans announced by Central Government. ZP chairperson K. Damodhar Reddy, MP from Mahabubnagar D.Vittal Rao and others were present.
