East defeats North

Bangalore: East defeated North by four wickets in a Col. Hemu Adhikari under-19 inter-zonal cricket tournament match that concluded at the RSI Ground here on Thursday.

Needing 264 in its second innings, East scored the required runs in 88.5 overs with Saurabh Tiwary (56) and S.S. Mondal (47) anchoring the chase.

Meanwhile at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 169 helped South salvage a draw against defending champion West.

The scores: North 209 in 68 overs and 329 in 81.4 overs lost to East 275 in 76.4 overs and 264 for six in 88.5 overs (Saurabh Tiwary 56, S.S. Mondal 47); West 269 in 82.5 overs and 346 for eight declared in 99.1 overs drew with South 119 in 62 overs and 293 for three in 99 overs (Manish Pandey 169 n.o.)
