In serious discussion: Kerala Sahithya Akademi president M. Mukundan making a point to social critic Sukumar Azhikode when they visited the Uroob Memorial Literary Museum at Kiliyanad School in Kozhikode on Friday.

Kozhikode: A team of writers and cultural leaders, led by Sukumar Azhikode and M. Mukundan, visited the Uroob Memorial Literary Museum at the Kiliyanad School on Wayanad Road here on Friday.

The museum, set up by the Uroob Cultural Forum, under the initiative of litterateur M.T. Vasudevan Nair, four years ago, was later handed over to the District Library Council.

The museum, housed in the building of the Kiliyanad school, has been in dire straits owing to the negligence of the authorities. After visiting the museum, M. Mukundan, who is president of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, said the “pathetic state” of the museum would be brought to the immediate attention of the Cultural Affairs Ministry. “We cannot afford to disrespect our literary heroes,” he said.

Akademi State secretary Purushan Kadalundi, writer V.R. Sudheesh and others accompanied the team.
