NEW DELHI: The Department of East Asian Studies at Delhi University has announced a new Master’s programme from the new academic year beginning in July.

The two-year M.A. course in East Asian Studies is an inter-disciplinary programme integrating cultural, social, economic, political and historical studies. Students will also get to learn four languages in two years, one in each semester. Overall there will be 16 papers.

Any student with a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks in any discipline from any recognised university is eligible to apply for the programme. An entrance test and interview will determine the admission of the candidates.

The students study subjects like Civilisation in East Asia, Political Institutions in East Asia, East Asian Economies and East Asia and the World.

After this programme, students could work with MNCs from East Asia or in public policy institutions, said Madhu Bhalla, Head of the Department. Application forms will be available up to July 4 and the entrance test will be held on July 11.
