Mons Joseph says a detailed project report on the package will be ready in a week Maintenance scheme planned for Sabarimala roads to avoid recurring expenditure PATHANAMTHITTA: Minister for Public Works Mons Joseph said the Public Works Department would introduce a special package for Sabarimala. Inaugurating the renovated Mandamaruti-Vechoochira Road at Vechoochira near Ranni on Friday, the Minister said a detailed project report on the proposed package would be ready in one week. Mr. Joseph said the PWD had also decided to implement a ‘heavy maintenance scheme’ for various Sabarimala roads to avoid hefty recurring expenses on road maintenance during pilgrim seasons. For road development in all 144 Assembly segments in the State, Rs.1 crore had already been sanctioned, he said. He said a bridge would be constructed at Kanamala, replacing the existing causeway. A total of Rs.70 lakh has been earmarked for repair and maintenance of Vechoochira-Mukkoottuthara Road. Mr. Joseph said development of Muvattupuzha-Punalur Road would be carried out as part of the second phase of Kerala State Transport Project. Mr. Raju Abraham, MLA, presided over the function.
