KADAPA: Three hundred meritorious students from poor families have been chosen for free intermediate education under ‘Kadapa Ratnalu’ programme, District Collector M.T. Krishna Babu said on Friday. Government employees and teachers contributed about Rs. 60 lakhs to Kadapa Ratnalu Trust, which was registered with the Collector as chairman and Joint Collector and SP as Vice-Chairman, he told a press conference here. The Government employees contributed a day’s salary, secondary grade teachers Rs. 150 each, school assistants Rs. 250 and mandal educational officers and headmasters contributed Rs. 400 each, he said. Private contributions were also mobilised for the programme. DonationsYSR Foundation and Bramhani Industries Limited contributed Rs. 12.50 lakhs each, Kadapa Mayor P. Ravindranath Reddy and Meda Constructions gave Rs. 5 lakhs each, Jammalamadugu MLA C. Adinarayana Rs. 2.50 lakhs, Kamalapuram MLA G. Veerasiva Reddy Rs. 2 lakhs and Kadapa Deputy Mayor K. Nabi Rasool Rs. 1.50 lakhs, he said. Municipal corporators of Kadapa gave a month’s salary each which worked out to Rs. 20 lakhs, he added. Corporate colleges – Sri Chaitanya and Narayana of Kadapa, Krishna Chaitanya of Nellore, Ravindra and Master Academy of Kurnool and Sri Sai Educational Institution of Anantapur offered to admit the students.
