Newborn girl found abandoned

KARUR: A newborn girl was found abandoned near Velliyanai in Karur district on Friday.
Passersby heard the cry of the baby from a nearby bush at the village on Friday. It was writhing in pain caused by thorny bushes.
Immediately they took the baby to the Primary Health Centre at the village where it was given first aid and sent it to the Karur Government Hospital. There the authorities took the newborn under the “Cradle Baby Scheme” and provided it treatment and care.
This is the second baby girl to be found abandoned and taken under the cradle baby scheme in Karur district in the past week.
Last week a baby girl was found abandoned under similar circumstances near Naapalayam near Kulithalai.
