“Blackberry should not be banned”
Shujaat Bukhari
SRINAGAR: Union Minister of State for Power and Commerce Jairam Ramesh on Friday opposed the move to ban Blackberry phones in the country.
“If we ban Blackberry phones we will be going 50 per cent back in our development,” he said at a press conference here.
Mr. Ramesh said that such a step would send a wrong signal and “negate our 9 per cent growth.”
He said that it did not make any sense to ban a particular instrument for the reasons being given by the Ministry concerned.
“This will not help control a particular situation but will make things more problematic,” he said.
