Carwash unit opened

KOCHI: Master Motors, an enterprise of Non-Resident Keralites (NRKs), has opened the State’s first automated carwash unit at Nettoor on the National Highway bypass. Besides carwash, the unit also sells car décor, accessories, lubricants, car entertainment systems, anti-corrosive coating and protective sealant coating. The time taken for a carwash will be less than 10 minutes, the promoters said, adding that the cost would be just Rs.30 more than that charged by the traditional methods. Entertainment zones for kids, women and dormitory facilities are also provided to motorists. The promoters plan another unit at Kakkanad in the city, and also units in Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Thrissur and Kozhikode. — Special Correspondent

Annual vendor meet

Kochi: Harrisons Malayalam Limited is celebrating its rubber outsourcing operations by organising the second annual business meet of its vendors on Saturday in Kochi. Vendors comprising estate owners, large and small dealers and entrepreneurs would be encouraged to develop quality consciousness at the meet, a press release said. — Special Correspondent

PCB award

Kochi: United Breweries Limited, Palakkad has won the State Pollution Control Award instituted by the State Pollution Control Board (PCB). Health Minister P.K. Sremathy gave away the award, a press release said. — Special Correspondent

Cochin Shipyard bags award

Kochi: Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has won the FACT-M.K.K. Nayar memorial productivity award for 2006-07 for achieving the highest productivity in the category of large industry. The award was given away by Industries Minister Elamaram Karim and received by K Subramanian, director (operations), on behalf of Cochin Shipyard Limited, a press release said. — Special Correspondent
