Disruption in water supply

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The supply of drinking water to areas serviced by the Kerala Water Authority’s reservoirs at Peroorkada and Manvila will be disrupted from 10 p.m. on June 7 to noon on June 8 to facilitate repair work on a 1200 mm cast iron pipeline originating at Aruvikkara.

A press note issued here said water supply to Peroorkada, Ambalamukku, Kowdiar, Sasthamangalam, Kuravankonam, Marappalam, Pattom, Medical College, Kumarapuram, Chennilode, Chettikkunnu, Ulloor, Sreekariyam, Manvila, Akkulam, Kesavadasapuram, Kudappanakkunnu, Nalanchira and Mannanthala will be affected.

People living in the above said areas must take adequate precautionary measures during this time, the press note added.

Workers of the KWA will carry out repair work on two leaks on the 1200 mm pumping main line. According to KWA officials the repair work involves pounding into place pieces of lead at the leaking joints.

The authority has also reportedly decided to inspect, in the coming days, all the joints on the first 200 meters of this line.
