Husband tortures, tonsures woman

HYDERABAD: A labourer allegedly tortured and got tonsured his estranged wife when she came to see her seven-year-old son living with him at Kulsumpura two days ago.

The shocking incident came to light when the woman Padma managed to escape from his confinement and approached the police on Friday. The police took into custody her husband Anjaneyulu, his second wife Laxmamma, brother Srinivas and two sisters Kalavathi and Kamalamma.

The couple hailing from Mahbubnagar district got married eight years ago. A few years later, they separated. Anjaneyulu allegedly tried to tonsure Padma’s head with a blade. She managed to escape from his clutches after sustaining injuries and approached the police.
