‘APCPDCL meters show false readings’

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: The CPI (M) has alleged that the digital energy-reading meters being arranged by the AP Central Power Distribution Company Limited for domestic and commercial users were showing false reading at several places and causing unfair burden on them.

But, the officials of the distribution company were neglecting the pleas of consumers to rectify such problems.

The digital energy reading meters being replaced by APCPDCL in place of old mechanical meters in the town were showing excess reading and the consumers were getting unprecedented billing, though their consumption was very little, leaders alleged.

Nagappa, a consumer, with service number 43120 was served with a bill of Rs. 2,000 last month and when questioned the billing worker he casually replied that they would rectify it later.

The CPI (M) leaders requested the APCPDCL officials to rectify the fault in the meters or replace them with the proper ones.
