Move to round up cattle
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The five cattle-catching teams of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi will scour the city for stray animals and ensure that none of them is caught traipsing on the roads by the deadline set by the court.
At a meeting of the MCD Standing Committee on Friday, Municipal Commissioner K. S. Mehra said the civic body was going full throttle to round up stray cattle across the city. “Wednesday’s incident of a man being gored to death by a stray cow was unfortunate. The offending cow was caught soon after as one of our teams was already in the area. The cow and its calf were fixed with micro-chips and later taken to a cow shelter,” said Mr. Mehra.
