99 children screened

SIVAKASI: A screening camp for children with heart ailments, organised as part of Chief Minister’s ‘Ilam Sirar Irudaya Padukappu Thittam,’ was inaugurated by Minister for Backward Classes Welfare K. K. S. S. R. Ramachandran here on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ramachandran said the State Government had made arrangements for performing heart surgeries for identified children at Government Rajaji Hospital, Vadamalayan Hospital, Apollo Speciality Hospitals and Meenakshi Mission Hospital in Madurai.
Collector, V. Chandrasekaran said that medical check up was being conducted on 99 children by specialists at the camp. They were among 2.32 lakh children screened in the district for heart ailments.
