Red Ribbon Express to be in Karur on June 13, 14

KARUR: As part of the national AIDS awareness campaign, the Red Ribbon Express would be camping at the Karur Junction on June 13 and 14. Various cultural events aimed at creating AIDS awareness among the masses would be conducted by accompanying artistes in the district on the two days.

After chairing a preparatory meet to gainfully utilise the Red Ribbon Express visit, Collector T.N. Venkatesh said here that in the first three bogies of the special train AIDS awareness exhibition would be in place while in the next two bogies, seminars and workshops would be held. Free counselling would also be given to visitors who wish to avail that.

Public could have free access to the special train.

It has also been planned to conduct awareness campaigns in 48 villages in Karur, Thanthoni, K. Paramathi and Krishnarayapuram panchayat unions, utilising the services of the accompanying artistes.

They would be performing at Thirukaduthurai, Manmangalam, Kombupalayam, Punjai Kadambankurichi, Nanniyur, Vettamangalam, Athur Poolampalayam, Vangal Kuppuchipalayam, Nerur North and South, Somur, Kathaparai in Karur union.

They would also be conducting programmes at Andankoil East and West, Kakkavadi, Puthambur, Appipalayam, Paganatham, Mookanankurichi, Velliyanai, K. Pichampatti, Manavadi, Jagadabi and Emur in Thanthoni panchayat union on June 13, throughout the day.

On the next day, the artistes would be performing in the K. Paramathi and Krishnarayapuram panchayat unions, according to Mr. Venkatesh.

Also accompanying caravans would be camping at 16 places during the two days when the special train would be camping in Karur Junction.
