HASSAN: Kumar (30), a farmer from Bittagodanahalli in Arkalgud taluk who was sowing seed potato in his fields on Friday, was hit in the face by a bullet. The victim has been shifted to the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. Superintendent of Police K.V. Sharatchandra said here on Saturday that a group of 17 people had gone to a nearby forest to hunt wild pigs on Friday. At 2.30 p.m., a bullet fired at a wild pig missed the target and hit Kumar. Hearing the gunshots, village residents rushed to the spot and caught three of the 17 hunters and handed them over to the police. Kumar was brought to the Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences by 8 p.m. on Friday, but there was no neurosurgeon at the hospital. He was later taken to NIMHANS.
