Rourkela: Six meritorious students belonging to backward castes were presented scholarship of Rs. 1.5 lakhs for their higher studies by the management of the Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). Executive Director (personnel and administration) Balbir Singh presented cheques for Rs. 25,000 each to Bidyadhar Ekka of Karkatta village, Biswadeep Ekka of Laing, Sandip Lakra of Kamabahal, Rabindra Kumar Lakra of Baidyanathpur, Satish Franklin Tirkey of Jhirpeni and Anupama Amat of Jaikuda, RSP sources said. These students, all from the engineering stream, have been selected by the RSP to receive scholarship of Rs. 1 lakh each for their professional studies. The amount presented on Friday was the second instalment. The first instalment was presented to them last year. – PTI
