BJP made no promise to Gujjars: Shekhawat

Lucknow: Former Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat on Saturday said the Bharatiya Janata Party had made no promise in its manifesto to provide Scheduled Tribe status to Gujjars in Rajasthan. A former Chief Minister, Mr. Shekhawat avoided questions on the ongoing agitation saying he could not comment “as talks were on between the parties concerned.” He said a solution to end the agitation had not been arrived at for lack of unanimity in the Gujjar leadership.

“The Centre, the State governments and all political parties should sit together for a dialogue to work out a permanent solution to the reservation demands.” — PTI
