Muzaffarnagar: Two convicts, lodged in the district jail, were rushed to a hospital in serious condition, police said here on Saturday. Sonu and Rafiq, the life convicts, were rushed to the hospital in serious condition on Friday night, Jail Superintendent Haresh Chandra Rai said, adding it was being suspected that either they had been given poison or they had themselves consumed poison. However, the prisoners claimed that the two convicts were poisoned by some jail officials. Reports of irregularities and deaths in the prison have been reported from the district jail for the last 2-3 months.
