PUDUCHERRY: As per the Madras High Court order, the Directorate of School Education has directed all schools to admit students of the same school who had passed Class X to Class XI and not to treat them as fresh admissions. The directorate, in a release, said the Madras High Court had ordered that admission of students from Class X to XI within the same school should not be treated as fresh ones but as continuation of the original admissions. Private schools could admit students from other schools after accommodating the students of their own school, the order said. In Puducherry, a total of 2,926 students passed Class X from government higher secondary schools and 2,645 students passed from government high schools. There were 6,872 seats for Class XI in government schools. While 2,656 students passed Class X from private higher secondary schools, 1,946 passed from private high schools. There were 3,340 seats in Class XI in private schools. The Directorate said there was no need for apprehensions in obtaining admissions to Class XI in the preferred stream. Applications for Class XI in government higher secondary schools were being issued from June 6. Students could obtain the forms from any government higher secondary school and the last date for submission was June 16. The process of admission would start on June 20 and the tentative date of completion would be June 30. Classes would begin on July 2, the release said.
