Students of the Aryabhatta Academy who cleared the IIT examination share a happy moment at a function held in Berhampur on Saturday. BERHAMPUR: Eight students of the city, who got selected for degree course in IITs, were felicitated at a function organised at the medical college auditorium on Saturday. The function was organised by the Aryabhatta Academy of the city. Satya Narayan Sahu, an official in the Prime Minister’s Office, attended the function as chief guest. The students who were selected were Abhipsa Panda, Divyaditta Mishra, Nihar Panigrahy, Lalit Panigrahy, Suman Sourabh, Nav Neet, Suraj Das and Saswat Pritam Sahu. All of them, except Saswat, attended the function. A milestoneThe guests present described their achievement as a milestone for the city as never before such a large number of students from the city got selected for the IITs. “It has proved that with proper guidance and willpower even students of our city can get selected for IITs without opting for costly coaching centres outside the State,” said Tumbanath Panda, father of Abhipsa. Kuheli Jati of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Berhampur, who secured second rank in the State this year in the 10th class board examination conducted by the CBSE, enthralled the audience with her Odissi recital. Mr. Sahu advised the students not to forget their motherland and place of birth throughout their life. “The era of brain drain has ended. Now, India is emerging as the knowledge capital of the world,” he said.
