Newborn girl found abandoned

KARUR: A newborn girl was found abandoned near Velliyanai village in Karur district on Friday. Passers-by, alerted by the cry from a bush, found her writhing in pain. They took her took to a Primary Health Centre, where first aid was given and the baby was sent to Karur Government Hospital.

Authorities adopted her under the Cradle Baby Scheme and provided treatment and care.

This is the second baby girl to be found abandoned and adopted under the cradle baby scheme in Karur district in the past week.

Last week, a baby girl was found abandoned under similar circumstances at Naapalayam near Kulithalai. — Staff Reporter
