BOISTEROUS SUPPORTERS: Supporters of BJP MLA Katta Subramanya Naidu wish him as he arrives at Raj Bhavan for the swearing-in ceremony in Bangalore on Saturday.

BANGALORE: Hebbal MLA Katta Subramanya Naidu was sworn in as a Minister here on Saturday, taking the strength of the B.S. Yeddyurappa Ministry to 31.

The 57-year-old MLA took oath as a Cabinet Minister at a swearing-in ceremony held at the Glass House in the Raj Bhavan on Saturday evening. Governor Rameshwar Thakur administered oath of office and secrecy to him.

Soon after taking oath, Mr. Naidu sought the blessings of Governor Rameshwar Thakur and Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa.

With the inclusion of Mr. Naidu, only three berths are left to be filled up. Mr. Yeddyurappa had taken oath along with 29 ministers on May 30.

Earlier, there was speculation that the Saturday’s ceremony would be a low-key affair. But the boisterous supporters of Mr. Naidu made it a grand affair at the Raj Bhavan’s Glass House. Crackers were burst and sweets were distributed even as Mr. Naidu was taking oath.

With the crowd trying to reach Mr. Naidu to congratulate him, a few ornamental flower pots kept in front of the dais were damaged. Traffic on the busy Raj Bhavan was disrupted for some time.
