NEW DELHI: A court here has once again dismissed a bail plea by Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravinder Singh of Delhi Police in an extortion case. He is facing prosecution in the case for allegedly letting off one of the accused in the sensational kidney racket case by extorting money from him. Dismissing the bail application on Saturday, Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau said the charges against the accused were serious and the investigation into the case was still continuing. Earlier, the court had thrice rejected bail applications by the accused. The accused had this time round sought bail submitting that he had been in judicial custody for more than three months and the police had not been able to complete the investigations and file a complete charge-sheet within the mandatory period of 90 days. He further said that he was in the Delhi Police; therefore, there was no possibility of his fleeing from trial. Besides Ravinder Singh, six more city police personnel are facing prosecution in the extortion case. The six were part of a team led by Ravinder Singh of the Delhi Police Special Staff in Central District. The Economic Offences Wing of the city police probing the case has charged them with extorting nearly Rs.20 lakhs from the kidney racket case accused.
