Hall tickets can be downloaded from the website 24 versions of question papers to be distributed BANGALORE: The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) will conduct competitive examination at 573 centres across the State on Sunday to fill 1,297 posts of assistants/ first division assistants in various government departments. KPSC chairman Gonal Bheemappa told presspersons on Saturday that 2.22 lakh candidates, including 82,517 women, would appear for the examination. The KPSC is holding the examination for the posts of first division assistants after two-and-a-half years. As many as 1.83 lakh candidates appeared for the examination held in September 2005. Mr. Bhemappa said that to ensure transparency and prevent malpractice, 24 versions of the question papers had been prepared. Each room at the examination centres would have 24 candidates and each candidate would be given a different version of the question paper. The candidates had to answer two papers, general studies and language (Kannada or English.) Only 26,320 candidates had opted for English. Deputy commissioners of the respective districts had been designated as chief supervisors and they would be assisted by their headquarter assistants and deputy directors of public instruction (DDPIs). The results would be announced in 10 days and the recruitment completed in a month’s time, he said. Mr. Bheemappa said that following a complaint that a person from Shimoga was collecting money from candidates by promising jobs, the KPSC had lodged a complaint with the Bangalore police and the same was being probed by the Central Crime Branch. Candidates who had not received their admission cards should download their particulars from the list of eligible candidates published in the KPSC website, http://kpsc.karnic.in, and they could directly go to the examination centre along with two passport size photographs, he said. Meanwhile, KPSC would conduct competitive examination on June 22 for recruiting 1,815 junior assistants or second division assistants. As many as 4.77 lakh candidates, of whom 81,637 were women, would appear for the examination to be held at 1,361 centres throughout the State, he said.
