PUDUCHERRY: The police on Saturday arrested three persons in connection with the murder of an autorickshaw driver, Swaminthan, on Friday evening. The accused were identified as Gopi, Sakthivel and Raj alias Raju. All of them are autorickshaw drivers from Thengaithittu.They were remanded to judicial custody.According to the police, investigation revealed that Swaminthan, who was a functionary of the autorickshaw drivers’ union at the stand on Rangapillai Street, was against the trio joining the union. He, along with other drivers of the stand, held a meeting with the accused on the day of the murder, the police said.Gopi had expressed his wish to operate his autorickshaw from the stand, which was opposed by Swaminathan, the police added.
