Militant killed

Iboyaima Laithangbam

IMPHAL: Troops of the 21 Assam Rifles gunned down a suspected militant in a pre-dawn encounter at Kakching in Thoubal district on Saturday.

An 9 mm pistol and a magazine having five rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the body. According to an identity card recovered, the militant is believed to be P. Rajen of Chanrangpat of the same district.

In another incident, a bullet-ridden body suspected to be that of Huidrom Saratchandra of Singjamei was recovered on Saturday by villagers.
