Minister’s directive to LSGIs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Local self-government institutions (LSGIs) which fail to submit the expenditure statement for 2007-08 will not get the Plan allocation for the second year of the Eleventh Plan, Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammed Kutty has said.

The decision was made by the State-level coordination committee on decentralised planning.

Mr. Kutty said in a release here on Saturday that the government had already informed the civic bodies that the details of Plan expenditure of each year should be submitted before May 31.

LSGIs which fail to furnish the expenditure statement would not get development fund and maintenance fund from June 1.

The funds would be sanctioned in instalments only after submitting the expenditure statement.

Mr. Kutty said that 530 grama panchayats, 92 block panchayats, 10 district panchayats, 30 municipalities and one corporation had secured the clearance for the first phase of projects for 2008-09.

Those civic bodies which had not secured clearance for the projects in the first phase should submit them along with the annual Plan, he said.
