New-look library for Khalsa College

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The library at Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College of Delhi University will sport a new look from this new academic year.

The college is renovating its library and making more space for a resource section equipped with 200 seats for students to make full use of the library facilities very comfortably.

“The new air-conditioned resource section has been developed for providing aesthetic and comfortable reading environment for students. The library will be ready by the end of this month. We have decided to keep it open till 8 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. which was the deadline earlier. All our library work is completely computerised,” said Principal Jaswinder Singh.

“We are also creating one separate room in the library where magazines and newspapers will be available for students. The University’s main network is also on our server, so we can access many national and international e-journals subscribed by them,” added Dr. Singh.

The college has also gone ahead with 40 p.c. expansion of laboratories. There will be four new labs, one each for Electronics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, in addition to the existing ones. “We are awaiting University approval to start some new B.Sc. courses. With these expectations, we have added these labs,” informed the Principal.

Dr. Singh hoped the institution would benefit greatly once it is equipped with more world-class infrastructure in the run-up to the Commonwealth Games in 2010.
