VIZIANAGARAM: Feedback from beneficiaries alone will help know implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the district, felt Col. Donathan, Special Officer (monitoring) for NREGS works. At a review meeting on execution of NREGS works with officials here on Friday evening, Col. Donathan said he would oversee works on his own for a week and interact with beneficiaries to know whether or not the scheme benefited them besides any violation of government guidelines. Project Director of DWMA B. Gopalakrishna, who was present, said 4.38 lakh job cards were issued so far in the district and gave administrative sanction for 35,453 works valued at Rs.474 crore. At present, 13,756 works worth Rs. 346 crore are in progress. Of them 9,361 works valued at Rs. 99 crore were already completed thus benefiting 2,85,317 families. The Project Director said 1,80,48,726 mandays were so far created and paid wages ranging from Rs.61 to Rs.100 to each worker.
