The winners: Rahul Manoah, Lokesh Kumar and Kavya Bharat with S. Badrinathan of UCAL Fuel at the KTC. Chennai: Rahul Manoah defeated S. Gokul 6-4, 6-2, in the boys’ under-12 final of the UCAL-TNTA-KTC junior tennis tournament at the Krishnan Tennis Centre on Saturday. Kavya Bharat won the girls’ under-12 title, getting the better of Pragati Nataraj 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. In a keenly contested final, Kavya’s energetic movements helped her prevail in the decider. Her shot-selection helped her go up to 5-3 in the third. Pragati saved two match points to make it 5-4, before Kavya completed the win. Rahul had an easier encounter against Gokul. His variety was difficult for Gokul to handle, as he made the adjustments required on a windy afternoon, to wrap up a comfortable second set.
