This Day That Age
Armed forces will now go into action in aid of civil power in some plains and hill areas of Assam where Naga hostiles have extended their violent activities. A notification published in the Assam Gazette Extraordinary says the Governor of Assam after careful consideration of all facts and circumstances is of the opinion that owing to depredation of armed Naga gangs in some areas within the State, Assam is in such disturbed and dangerous condition that use of armed forces in aid of civil powers is necessary. The notification further states that the Governor has declared all reserved forests and major parts of Sibsagar district as disturbed areas.
