UAE announces new visit visas

Atul Aneja

DUBAI: Individuals entering the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a visit visa will have to pay 500 dirhams (around Rs.5500) from August 1.

The UAE’s Federal Naturalisation and Residency Department (FNRD) announced on Sunday the fee structure for 16 types of visit visas.

“Visit visas valid for 30 days will cost Dh500. This cannot be renewed. A person wishing to stay for an extended period must obtain a visit visa valid for 90 days that costs Dh1,000,” Director-General of FNRD Lieutenant General Mohammad Salem Al Khaili said.

A multi-entry visit visa, valid for six months, has been introduced. It will cost Dh2,000 (Rs.22,000), and individuals availing it can stay for a maximum of 14 days.

Students registered in the UAE universities can obtain a visit visa for Dh1,000. Apart from health insurance, a refundable deposit of Dh1,000 has to be paid. A 90-day visa for those seeking medical treatment can be had for Dh1,000. This can be renewed for three months for Dh500.

Visitors attending conferences or exhibitions will have to pay a visa fee of Dh100. Transit visas will cost the same. There is no change in the cost of one-month tourist visas. These can be obtained for Dh100. They can be renewed once.
