Special Correspondent
PANAJI: Five labourers were killed and five seriously injured when a compound wall collapsed on the temporary house built at a construction site on Sunday morning at Porvorim in north Goa. One person escaped unhurt.
Police sources said there were 11 labourers residing at the site when the incident took place. The wall surrounding an on-going construction was covered with mud, which possibly resulted in its collapse.
Porvorim police registered a complaint on behalf of the State against the real estate company.
Collector Mihir Vardhan, who visited the site ordered the demolition of the boundary wall. Chief Minister Digambar Kamat, Chief Secretary J. P. Singh, Inspector General of Police Kishen Kumar inspected the site during the day.
