Telugu course for foreign nationals

HYDERABAD: The Italian of the East will soon go international if efforts by Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University in promoting Telugu language studies bear fruit.

After being instrumental in initiating a Telugu language course at Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the university is now planning to introduce a course here for foreign nationals intending to study the language.

Sharing the details at a press conference here on Monday, Vice-Chancellor of the University A. Manjulatha said they were expecting students from countries such as Poland, Romania, Paris and Germany for the one-year diploma course due to begin in September.

Five meritorious students will get fellowships to the tune of Rs.1,20,000 each apart from travel funding from the university. However, amount will be deducted towards tuition fee, medical insurance and rent.
