Letters to the Editor
The Gujjar agitation is the result of the failure of the Rajasthan government, which exacerbated the situation by not offering to hold talks with the community much earlier. The Gujjars, on their part, cannot hold a State to ransom. It is disturbing that they have resorted to measures that distort the meaning of the right to protest to press their demand for inclusion in the list of Scheduled Tribes. They should have given those who died for their cause a dignified funeral instead of using their bodies as pawns in their agitation. The repercussions of the agitation are far-reaching. Many communities have started demanding reservation. Ch. Abhishek, Hyderabad
