The Minister said 71,000 pumpsets were being given free power in the district. It costs the government as much as Rs. 11 crore per annum. The agriculture services under certain feeders were affected by low-voltage. He said that efforts were being made by streamlining the supply to help farmers overcome the voltage problem. He stated that the foodgrain production touched 1.2 million tons in Khammam this year as against Rs. 4 lakh tons the previous year. The milk production also touched 6.5 lakh litres in the district.

The NREGS works would be implemented mainly in the lean season. He assured the farmers in the agency area that their credit needs would be met adequately. The farmers would also get ‘pavala vaddi’ loans from August next. He said that the farmers who had already repaid their crop loans would soon be given Rs. 5,000 each.
