BANGALORE: In an effort to bring forth the virtues of the much-maligned BPO (business process outsourcing) industry and to explain the concept of the functioning of BPOs to the layman, “Oh! BPO structure and chaos, Fun and agony”, authored by V. Anandkumar and Subhasish Biswas, was launched by T.K. Kurien, president of Global Programme and Strategic Initiatives, and Shanmugham Nagarajan, co-founder of 24/7 customer, at a function held at the Oxford bookstore at Leela Galleria here on Monday. The function was also attended by NASSCOM president Som Mittal. Mr. Som Mittal talked about the potential of the industry in India and said that it can grow much further. Mr. Anandkumar said, “The book is an effort to convince readers not to be swayed by the negative aspects of a BPO job. It is an effort to bring forth the positive aspects of the job. It provides livelihood to millions across the country.” He added, “The book explains that work in a BPO firm is tough and breaks the myth that it is a just a nice party.” Mr. Subhasish Biswas said, “We have also made efforts to explain the high attrition figures in the industry as quoted by some media channels. Most attrition rates are within the industry itself, as people switch companies. As in other industries, if you work hard, money and recognition will follow here also.”
