HASSAN: The police here on Tuesday arrested lorry driver Ismail Pasha who went absconding after several people died in the Basvanahalli Koppalu road accident involving the vehicle he was driving. He was produced before the Judicial Magistrate in Arkalgud on Monday but released on bail. On May 29, a group of residents from Basavanahalli Koppalu in Arkalgud taluk were on their way to attend a feast in Ramanathapura Agrahara when the lorry in which they were travelling fell into a coconut grove as Ismail Pasha, its driver, lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid a set of loosely hanging livewires. As many as 25 people were crushed to death and 54 injured .
