Mystery shrouds woman’s death

A housewife died under mysterious circumstances at her house in Wynchipet on Tuesday. The victim was identified as Sheik Ghousia, 26, wife of Sheik Muzaffar, a welding worker.

The police said Ghousia married Muzaffar five years ago and the couple had two children.

On Tuesday afternoon, neighbours heard the cries of children from Ghousia’s house and they saw her body lying on the floor. The police, who rushed to the scene, found that Ghousia died of strangulation.

They also found a saree tied to the ceiling fan and suspected that she might have hanged herself to the ceiling fan with a saree and Muzaffar might have tried to rescue her. But when he found her dead, he might have escaped, the police said.

During preliminary investigation, the police found that Ghousia and Muzaffar wer

e not in good terms in the recent past and Ghousia picked up several arguments with her husband, asking him to give up drinking. The body was sent for a post-mortem.

A case was registered under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the Cr. P.C.
