Virasam for patch-up in MRPS-newspaper row
HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Revolutionary Writers’ Association (Virasam) has called for steps by the Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti and the management of ‘Andhra Jyoti’ to resolve their row following the publication of a news item in the Telugu daily and subsequent attack on its offices by MRPS activists, to ‘promote press freedom and social justice’.
Revolutionary poet-writer Varavara Rao in a statement here on Tuesday, while appealing to the two parties to make up, suggested that MRPS leader Manda Krishna and the daily management/editorial board express regrets for the happenings. Both should withdraw their police complaints against each other. Mr. Rao condemned the practice of setting fire to effigy of Manda Krishna.
