Seminar on global warming a part Nine books released on the occasion PUDUCHERRY: The Pondicherry Science Forum conducted its 12th State Conference on June 7 and 8. A seminar on global warming was held through video conferencing from Chennai as part of the conference. Nine books were also released on the occasion. The forum, in a release, said it had been working on creating awareness of science, education, health, environment and women issues for the last 23 years. Resolution adoptedThe forum adopted a resolution to change its name to the Puducherry Science Forum. It demanded the implementation of a uniform system of education across all Puducherry schools. The government should take steps to involve the public, especially Dalit women, for proper representation in village sanitation and beneficiary committees under the National Rural Health Mission, the release said. The forum said a monitoring committee should be set up to check on misinformation on science. It demanded that the government reduce interest rates from 12 to six per cent on loans given to self-help groups, the release added. The conference was attended by 200 persons from Puducherry and Karaikal.
