Santhosh Madhavan’s guest house searched

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: A Crime Branch team led by Inspector-General of Police K. Padmakumar searched the Santhitheeram guest house run by Santhosh Madhavan on S.R.M. Road here on Wednesday.

The move comes after the Crime Branch took over two of the four cases registered against Santhosh Madhavan. The cases registered for cheating Non-Resident Keralite Sarafin Edwin of four lakh dirhams and misappropriation of funds and illegal land transactions made under the auspices of the Santhitheeram Trust were transferred to the Crime Branch following requests by the local police.

Documents seized

It is learnt that several documents and the computer used at the guest house were taken into custody by the search party.

The computer will be sent to the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), Thiruvananthapuram, for analysing the contents.

The move become significant as there were reports that some of the properties were removed from the premises on June 1 night.

However, City Police Commissioner Manoj Abraham, when contacted, said all incriminating evidence in the building was taken into custody during the first raid by the local police and handed over to the court as part of the investigation. The owner of the building was free to shift or remove whatever was left as it had nothing to do with investigation.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Crime Branch, Raghavan and Deputy SPs Rajan and Venugopal, who head the Special Investigation Teams formed to look into these cases, were present during the raid.

The Crime Branch will move the court on Thursday to get Santhosh Madhavan into its custody for further investigation.
