Letters to the Editor
The reported move by some filmmakers to produce television serials on the gruesome killing of Aarushi Talwar (“Mother doesn’t want Aarushi’s killing showcased,” June 10) deserves to be condemned in strong terms. Neither the police nor the 24-hour television news channels covered themselves in glory while dealing with the case. It is unfortunate that the character of a young girl has been assassinated by the media and the police without proof. The tough stance taken by Union Minister of Women and Child Development Renuka Chaudhary and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry’s action against India News for airing an MMS are welcome. J. Anantha Padmanabhan, Srirangam The report that the tinsel world is toying with the idea of making a serial based on the real-life tragedy of Aarushi is annoying. It is regrettable that the murder case has become a spotlight for filmmakers. With the investigation still on, it is most abominable to think of portraying the tragedy on the silver screen. The sensitivity of the victim’s mother should be respected. V. Chandrasekar, Coimbatore
