Genpact, NIIT form JV

NEW DELHI: Global business process outsourcing (BPO) firm Genpact and leading information technology (IT) education company NIIT on Wednesday announced the launch of NIIT Institute of Process Excellence Ltd. to address the increasing demand for skilled workers in the business and technology services industry.

The joint venture company will initially offer training programmes in business processes, language skills and business communication, and later cover finance and accounting, banking, insurance and supply chain also, in all major Indian cities followed by China and the Philippines.

Announcing the initiative here, Pramod Bhasin, President and CEO, Genpact, said the Institute had been designed for students aspiring to build sustainable careers in the high growth business and technology services industry. “Our new initiative will build a pool of global professionals to fuel the growth of the IT-enabled services (ITeS) industry,” said Mr. Bhasin, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the IT trade body, National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom).

According to NIIT Chairman Rajendra S. Pawar, in the first year of operations, training facilities will be available in Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune, followed by Dalian, Changchun, Shanghai and Xian in China, and Manila in the Philippines in the next phase. “We hope to have 250 learning centres by 2012,” he said.
