Traders told to sell seed at MRP

KARIMNAGAR: Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania has warned traders of stern action if they sell seeds and fertilizers at higher price than the maximum retail price (MRP) and resort to blackmarketing and hoarding.

The Collector made a surprise visit to Agro Farmers Service Centre in Alugunur village of Thimmapur mandal on Wednesday and inspected the stock register of seeds and fertilizers.

He said that the government was distributing the required quantity of seeds and fertilizers to farmers through 55 distribution centres in the district.

He said that the district was allocated 1,500 quintals of maize seeds, 150 quintals of red gram seeds, 250 quintals of green gram, one lakh quintals of paddy seeds, and 28,400 metric tonnes of urea and 2,150 metric tonnes of DAP and 1,359 tonnes of other fertilizers.

He instructed the agricultural officers to take necessary measures to ensure availability of seeds and fertilizers in all shops. He also informed the agricultural officers to take measures to check the hoarding and black marketing of seeds and fertilizers.

The Collector also inspected the District Marketing Cooperative Society (DCMS) in Karimnagar and inspected the records there.

He informed the authorities to take measures to maintain stock boards in front of all seeds and fertilizer shops. JD (agriculture) M. Ramesh and others were also present.
