SEZ victim attempts suicide

MAHABUBNAGAR: One of the SEZ victims of Polepally village in Jadcherla constituency Karre Venkatamma (50) attempted suicide following a dispute with her son over compensation on land. She had consumed poison in a fit of emotion and was rushed to the government hospital at Badepally where she was said to be recovering.
It is learnt that she had yet to get compensation for over an acre and two bores drilled in her land. Venkatamma owned over 4 acres of land in survey no. 458 which was acquired by the State government recently. So far, she had received compensation from the government for three acres only.
The recently-elected MLA from Jadcherla Mallu Ravi who rushed to the hospital expressed anguish over the inordinate delay in payment of compensation. He directed the revenue officials to pay the woman at the earliest.
