GULBARGA: Minister for Animal Husbandry Revu Naik Belamgi on Wednesday said on behalf of the State Government that funds required for completion of work on the court complex to house a Circuit Bench of the Karnataka High Court, on the outskirts of Gulbarga city, would be released immediately. He reiterated that the required number of court halls and other buildings would be handed over to the High Court authorities as scheduled on June 26 to enable them to initiate steps to start functioning of the Circuit Bench from July 7. Mr. Belamgi, who inspected work on the court complex following complaints about slackness and pending bills of contractor amounting to over Rs. 20 crore, told presspersons that he had been asked by Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to visit the complex and submit firsthand information about the situation immediately. Mr. Belamgi said he would request the Chief Minister to release funds for clearing the pending bills and speeding up the work on the complex. Officials concerned told the Minister that despite pending bills the contractor had not slowed down the work, and as promised five court halls, five judges’ quarters, guesthouse and a residential block for the court staff would be handed over to the High Court on June 26. Mr. Belamgi expressed satisfaction over the progress of the work and asked the officials and the contractor to ensure that the work was completed before schedule. He was particular about providing facilities such as electricity connections, approach roads and drinking water. Temporary connectionsThe officials told Mr. Belamgi that temporary electricity connections would be provided immediately to the court halls and other buildings from the facility in the complex, and after completion of the work permanent connections would be provided from express feeder lines. Similarly, measures had been initiated for providing drinking water supply, they said and added that arrangements were being made to pay the deposit stipulated by the Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board for getting drinking water connection to the court complex. Later, Mr. Belamgi, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey, Chief Executive Officer of Gulbarga Zilla Panchayat P.C. Jaffer and other officials visited the site identified for new airport and inspected the spot where the Chief Minister would be laying the foundation stone for the project on June 14.
