Jeevan Reddy disputes TRS claims on votes

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Roads and Buildings Minister T. Jeevan Reddy has disputed the claim of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) that it has secured more votes than the Congress in the recent byelections.

Talking to reporters here on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy said that the Congress secured 15,33,250 votes against the TRS tally of 14,28,157 in the 16 Assembly and four Lok Sabha seats minus Khairatabad Assembly constituency. The voting percentage for the Congress was 33.75 against 31.44. He demanded that TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao tender “an unconditional apology for insulting the people of Telangana by accusing them of succumbing to money and voting for Congress candidates. ”

“When the Congress wins, Mr. Rao accuses us of spending huge money. But when he won the Karimnagar bypolls last year, the Congress did not make such allegations,” Mr. Reddy said.
