ADAMANT: Former Minister Kodela Siva Prasada Rao at the protest launched at Nasaraopet in Guntur district on Wednesday. NARASARAOPET (GUNTUR DT): A defiant TDP leader Kodela Siva Prasada Rao has demanded unconditional withdrawal of all charges framed against him in a cheating case relating to a real estate scandal at the Narasaraopet Town Police Station. The former Minister, who began a sit-in protest along with a large group of his supporters on Wednesday, also sought an apology from the police for registering a ‘false case’ without any circumstantial evidence and action against the complainants. The police on June 9 registered a case under section 420 against Dr. Rao and three others based on a complaint made by Bokkisam Siva Nageswara Rao and Saikam Ramayogi Reddy. They alleged that Dr. Rao and others floated a real estate firm, ‘Nagarjuna Real Estates’ and cheated them after promising allotment of plots. Charges refutedRefuting the allegations, Dr. Rao said that he was not connected with the firm. Further, he said that the issue was struck down earlier by the consumer courts and even the DSP had given a clean chit clearing his name in the controversy. On Wednesday, he along with a large number of followers took out a procession to the Municipal Office junction where he addressed a public meeting. Denouncing the charges made against him, Dr. Rao vowed that he would continue to fight against ‘intimidatory’ tactics of the government and stand by his supporters. Refuses to budgeThe former Minister turned down an appeal from Deputy Superintendent of Police P. Madhusudana Rao to call off the agitation. He even refused to speak to the SP over the phone. The DSP explained that the FIR was filed based on a complaint and an impartial investigation would be done before taking further action. However, Dr. Kodela refused to budge.
